Grilled Turkey Burger with Burger Dust

Grilled turkey burgers have been waiting for this moment – the invention of Spice It Up! Burger Dust! Burger Dust levels the playing field between healthy-for-you turkey burgers and, let’s face it, juicy and tasty beef burgers. Make no mistake, Spice It Up! Burger Dust is amazing on traditional hamburgers, elevating them far beyond your typical backyard grilling experience. But the real magic is watching a ho-hum turkey burger turn into a barbecue favorite.

By adding shredded zucchini, the flavor isn’t impacted, but the juiciness is. Even after removing excess moisture, the zucchini helps keep the patty juicy. We added Spice It Up! Exotic Mushroom rub to the meat mixture rather than use it as a rub on the outside of the patty. The umami essence of this spice mix helps to transform the generally bland ground turkey into a more savory tasting burger.

We served the burger on a grilled bun with a lemon, parmesan and argula salad and a tzatziti sauce. There are endless ways to enjoy this healthy, flavorful burger – check below for a few or come up with some of your own!

Recipe Notes

Different variations:

  • Pepper Jack cheese, lettuce and tomato
  • Pizza burger - Mozzarella with a tomato sauce in place of ketchup
  • Served on a salad rather than on a bun
  • Make meatballs instead of patties. Brown first in pan then simmer in sauce

Substitute your favorite steak sauce for the ketchup

Can be pan fried instead of grilled

Since turkey burgers can be a bit more delicate than beef burgers, patties can be  made ahead of time and stored in the refrigerator which will help them hold together better.
